Occupational Health and Safety in Local Administrations Conference took place in Bursa

Organized by Healthy Cities Association in cooperation with Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa, Occupational Health and Safety in Local Administrations was held in Bursa, on 10-11-12 February 2016. During the 3 days of the conference, bureaucrats of relevant ministries and municipalities, and the acamedics shared their data and know-how on occupational health and safety with the participants. The representatives of 42 municipalities affiliated to the Association, representatives from sub-provincial municipalities, also Neşet Çakmaklı – Deputy Secretary General of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, along with the heads of departments and commissioners from Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa attended the conference.

The opening speech was made by Abdülkadir Karlık on behalf of Recep Altepe, president of Turkish Healthy Cities Association and Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality. Mr. Karlık stated that, as the Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa they have adopted equality as a principle and a people-oriented administrative mentality, they continue tedious works, considering the problems and needs of the citizens prior.

At the second session titled Occupational Health and Safety and the Main Principles at Local Administrations, Assistant Prof. Dr. Alpaslan Türkkan from Uludağ University – Faculty of Medicine Department of Public Health and Member of Advisory Committee of Healthy Cities Association, Asuman Gülhan from the Head of Sanitary Affairs Department of Bursa Metroplitan Municipality and Çağdaş Büyük made their presentations to the participants.

At the last session of the first day of the conference, Yaşar Ata – Ministry of Labpur and Social Security, Labour Inspection Board’s Head of Bursa and Fatih Uğurlu gave a lecture on The Course of Inspection Mechanism in Local Administrations.

The issues spoken upon at the round table meetings, were conveyed to participants as the final declaration of the second day, by Süleyman Bakan – Chief of Occupational Health and Safety Department from Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa and Dr. Nurten Türksoy – Workplace Doctor from the Head Department of Sanitary Affairs, Metropolitan Municipality of Bursa.

The closing presentation of conference was given by Şaban Erdoğan from the General Directorate of Local Authorities – the Ministry of Interior, under the title of The Position and Liabilities of Local Administrative Management Staff under the System.

Following the last presentation, expressing gratitudes to the participants for their contributions, Head of Sanitary Affairs Department of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Tekin Akış gave the closing statement of the conference.
