We Attended the Local Administrations and Public Health Congress

We attended the 8th International and 26th National Public Health Congress organized by the Association of Public Health Specialists (HASUDER) in Ankara between 5-7 December 2024.

This year, the main theme of the congress was “Local Administrations and Public Health”. The congress brought together public health specialists and public health professionals and created an important platform to discuss the increasing role of local governments in the field of public health, their critical roles and success stories in public health works.

In the opening session of the congress, President of Healthy Cities National Network of Türkiye and Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. Cemil Tugay emphasized the impact of local governments in the field of public health and their responsibilities in his speech titled “Healthy Cities For Healthy Society”.

Mayor of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Mustafa Bozbey made a speech titled “Fight Against Urban Poverty in the Example of Local Administration” in the Urban Poverty and Public Health session and discussed in detail the responsibilities of local administrations in terms of public health services.

22 sessions and 62 presentations were held at the congress where our member municipality representatives shared their works in the field of public health.
